This sake set is made in Japan, and comes with 1 bottle and 4 cups. The poem on the bottle and cups was written by a famous scholar, politician, and poet named Sugawara no Michizane. Sugawara no Michizane was born in Kyoto in the 9th century, and rose high in the government of the country. He then fell victim to political intrigue, and was exiled to Kyushu in the southernmost area of Japan. In exile, he wrote one of his most iconic poems about a plum blossom tree which he was very fond of in Kyoto. It reads: When the east wind blows, Let it send your fragrance, Oh plum blossoms. Although your master is gone, Do not forget the spring.
